What is the real difference between the three payment modes?

Semester-wise is the sticker price spread over the programme: the university's cash-flow, not yours. Annual payment usually carries a small discount. One-time payment carries the largest — but it means finding the whole fee now, or borrowing it.

If you borrow to pay upfront, compare the discount against the interest. At 11% p.a. reducing over 24 months, an EMI on ₹1,50,000 is about ₹6,991 a month and costs roughly ₹17,784 in interest over the two years — so an upfront discount smaller than that leaves you better off paying semester-wise and keeping the cash.

How do you decide?

Take the discount if you have the money and would not otherwise invest it at more than the interest rate. Take the EMI if the discount is smaller than the interest you would pay, or if you want the option to withdraw after a semester — refund rules favour the person who has paid less. Either way, get the discounted figure in writing before you pay.
