LPU awards a UGC-DEB entitled degree and holds the better accreditation by a distance; SCDL awards a diploma, costs considerably less and carries a broader, more sector-specific specialisation list. Neither is strongly received by employers, which narrows what the premium buys.
LPU holds NAAC A double plus and a strong NIRF position, is UGC-DEB entitled and AICTE approved, and our record shows it leaving you eligible for doctoral study. On paper that is a materially stronger institutional position than SCDL's.
Our record states plainly that SCDL is not a university, is not UGC-DEB entitled, and awards an AICTE approved post graduate diploma rather than a degree. It also shows that it does not leave you eligible for doctoral study afterwards, and that it is one of the few institutions here requiring an entrance test. What complicates the comparison is reception: our record rates LPU's private sector recognition and career progression as poor — among the weakest entries we hold — against average for SCDL. So the better-accredited option is not the better-received one, and the premium is buying entitlement rather than prestige.
Every line above is computed from the fee, accreditation and placement figures in the table below — we don't rank universities on anything we can't show you.

A dash means the university has not published that detail.

Strip away the rankings for a moment and the practical difference is this: LPU's qualification satisfies rules that specify a UGC-DEB entitled master's degree, and SCDL's does not. Government recruitment, public sector promotion ladders, doctoral admission and overseas credential evaluation all read against such rules.
That is a real and permanent advantage, and it is worth paying for if any of those routes is plausibly in your future. It cannot be acquired later.
What it is not is a reputational advantage. Our record puts LPU's private sector recognition at poor and SCDL's at average, so if your plan is to impress a hiring manager rather than satisfy a rule, the higher fee is buying something you will not use.
Neither of these is a strong instrument for changing employer on the strength of the certificate alone. LPU records poor private sector recognition and poor career progression with average alumni feedback and support; SCDL records average across all four.
LPU's position reflects how a relatively recent online wing is currently received rather than a judgement about teaching, and reception moves more slowly than accreditation does. SCDL's average sits on a long history with working professionals and corporate partnerships with large employers in telecom and technology services.
LPU does report a much higher placement ceiling and a substantial placement operation — support, mock interviews, preparation training and virtual job fairs. A ceiling describes one student's outcome rather than a typical one, and a strong placement operation alongside poor reception tells you about effort rather than result.
SCDL carries considerably more specialisations than LPU and several exist nowhere else in this catalogue: banking and financial services, insurance business management, export and import management, energy management, educational administration, business and corporate laws, customer relationship management, and technical writing in business management, alongside project management, retail, supply chain, data science, international business and human resources.
LPU's record emphasises a wide specialisation range across the management core. The table on this page gives both counts.
If you work in insurance, energy, export operations or education administration, SCDL names your industry and LPU does not. For a mid-career professional staying in their sector, a programme that spends its full length on that sector's economics is a different asset from a general one — and it can outweigh the entitlement question if entitlement will never be checked.
Our record describes LPU as easy and SCDL as easy. This is the gentlest pair on the site, and neither should defeat you alongside full-time work. For once, workload is simply not a deciding variable.
Admission does separate them, and against expectation. LPU admits on merit without an entrance test, though our record notes some of its scholarships are tied to its own test. SCDL requires an entrance test outright — its own, or a recognised national or state management test score.
Neither runs a campus connect component and both examine online, so neither requires travel and neither offers in-person contact.
SCDL is substantially cheaper and sits near the bottom of the whole site; LPU charges a single flat fee across its MBA specialisations. The current figures are in the table on this page.
LPU lists merit, defence and paramilitary, sports, alumni and corporate employee categories with interest-free instalments. Check whether the concession you are counting on requires its entrance test. SCDL records no formal scholarship scheme, relying on low pricing, with concessions for defence and armed forces candidates, international students, alumni and corporate tie-ups, and a short instalment facility.
On either, ask your employer about reimbursement first. Neither fee is large by this catalogue's standards, which makes a corporate arrangement more likely to cover a meaningful share.

No. LPU awards a UGC-DEB entitled master's degree; our record shows SCDL is not a university, is not UGC-DEB entitled, and awards an AICTE approved post graduate diploma. That difference decides any situation where a rule names a degree, and is often invisible in private sector hiring.
