Symbiosis charges a premium for a NAAC A++ brand taught by its flagship campus faculty; Amity charges less, offers far more ways to reduce that fee, and builds its specialisations around outside partners.
This is a comparison between a university that sells breadth and one that sells concentration. Amity University Online runs a wide catalogue with an unusual specialisation list, the most extensive scholarship structure we carry, and a fee band you can move within. Symbiosis School for Online and Digital Learning runs a shorter, more classical list at a single premium price, on the strength of one of the better-known management brands in the country.
Both are UGC-DEB entitled and AICTE approved, both admit in January and July with no entrance exam, and both are honest about being built for people who are already working. The decision between them is not about validity. It is about whether the Symbiosis name and the academic rigour behind it justify a materially larger cheque than Amity will ask you for, especially once Amity's scholarships are applied.
Every line above is computed from the fee, accreditation and placement figures in the table below — we don't rank universities on anything we can't show you.

A dash means the university has not published that detail.

Symbiosis carries a NAAC A++ grade and a NIRF placing that sits higher than Amity's. Its online school is recent, founded well after the parent institution established itself in Pune, and a fair question is whether a new online arm inherits the brand or merely borrows it. Its record answers that more directly than most: the faculty are shared with the established Symbiosis management campuses, and the record states explicitly that this is the same teaching pool as the on-campus programmes.
Amity's online arm is also relatively new. Its record lists an A+ grade, but qualifies it as QS-ranked rather than NAAC, so it cannot be set against a NAAC A++ grade as an equivalent and we do not do so. What Amity's record does carry, and Symbiosis's does not, is recognition from named quality bodies in the United States and the United Kingdom plus a global professional accountancy body. Symbiosis's international standing rests on a QS ranking and a regional quality label. If your intention is to work abroad, that difference is worth more than the NAAC gap; if you intend to stay in India, the NAAC gap is worth more.
Symbiosis charges one flat fee for the online MBA regardless of specialisation, and it is the higher price in this pair — above Amity's entry point and above the top of Amity's range as well. The figures are in the table on this page and read live from the catalogue.
What the premium buys, according to the two records, is the brand and the faculty behind it: a shared teaching pool with the flagship management campuses, a NAAC A++ grade, and a career-services operation the record rates highly, including a claim of a complete placement track record. Read that claim as a description of placement assistance and outcome reporting, not a guarantee of a job at a given salary. What the premium does not buy is more choice — Symbiosis's specialisation list is shorter than Amity's, and its scholarship structure is far narrower.
Symbiosis runs the classical management functions — marketing, finance, human resource management, operations, international business — plus logistics and supply chain, business analytics, hospital and health care management, and an agri operations track that is unusual for an online MBA and genuinely relevant if you work in agribusiness.
Amity's list is built differently. It leans on outside partners: a chartered surveying institution on construction project management, a global accountancy body on international finance, a medical education provider with an observership attachment on healthcare management. It also carries data science, business analytics, digital marketing, general management and a dual-specialisation route. Our catalogue does not list a dedicated HR specialisation for Amity, so if HR is the label you want, Symbiosis is the one carrying it; construction project management runs the other way.
The two records rate the academic load differently, and this may be the most practical difference between them. Symbiosis is graded as very difficult; Amity as moderately difficult. Symbiosis also runs online proctored examinations, which means scheduled, invigilated assessment sessions rather than open-window submissions.
Neither of those is a criticism. A demanding programme with proctored exams is exactly what makes a degree defensible in an interview, and it is part of what Symbiosis is charging for. But it is a real commitment for someone holding down a full-time job, and should be weighed against your actual weekly hours, not the ones you hope to free up. Both universities deliver through an LMS with live and recorded sessions, so the flexibility of when you study is comparable; the difference is in how much studying there is.
Both run substantial hiring-partner networks: Symbiosis lists online job fairs alongside its placement operation, Amity placement assistance and mentoring. Both rate alumni feedback and private-sector recognition at the top of the scale.
The one clear divergence is in reported career progression: Symbiosis's record rates it as exceptional, Amity's as good. Their reported salary bands differ too, and both appear in the comparison table above rather than in this prose, because they are self-reported figures that move between intakes. Read them as an indicator of employer reach rather than a prediction. For a working professional, the more useful question is which alumni network your industry already contains, and that is worth checking on LinkedIn against your own function and city before you commit.
Here the gap is stark and it can substantially change the arithmetic. Amity carries merit awards, defence personnel, Divyaang, sports, alumni, a scholarship test route, and separate discounts for paying the annual or full fee upfront. Someone qualifying under two of those headings can close a meaningful part of the price difference.
Symbiosis offers a single limited concession, with defence personnel, alumni, corporate or industry sponsored, and merit-based concessions listed as the qualifying categories. Both universities offer EMI — no-cost at Amity, a digital EMI facility at Symbiosis. If your employer sponsors study, note that Symbiosis explicitly lists a corporate and industry sponsored category, which is worth raising with your HR team before you look anywhere else. Get the post-concession figure from both in writing; comparing published fees alone will mislead you here more than in most pairs.

The degree is UGC-DEB entitled and AICTE approved, which settles its formal validity. On perception, the relevant detail in the record is that faculty are shared with the established Symbiosis management campuses, so the teaching is not a separate operation bolted on. It remains an online degree and is described as such on the certificate; no online MBA in India is presented as equivalent to a full-time residential one.
