Amity is priced as a globally-facing MBA with professional-body partnerships attached; Sikkim Manipal is built to be the least expensive credible route to a UGC-entitled MBA.
Both of these are online MBAs from UGC-DEB entitled, AICTE approved universities. That is the part most applicants worry about, and on that count there is nothing to choose between them: the degree is valid for government recruitment and further study, and both records confirm PhD eligibility afterwards. Anyone selling you one of these on UGC entitlement alone is telling you something true and useless.
The actual decision is about everything stacked on top of the degree. Amity's record is built around external partnerships, international quality bodies, an unusually broad scholarship menu and a structured career-services operation. Sikkim Manipal's record is built around a single idea, stated plainly in its own positioning: affordable online degrees. One caveat before you read on — Sikkim Manipal's record in our source workbook has several damaged fields, so a few things we would normally compare are missing for it. Where that happens we say so, rather than guessing.

Above the shared UGC-DEB and AICTE baseline, the two records diverge in a way that is easy to misread. Sikkim Manipal's grade is recorded in our workbook as a NAAC A+. Amity's grade is recorded as A+ as well, but qualified against QS rather than NAAC, so we do not publish a NAAC grade for Amity and you should not accept one from a counsellor without seeing the certificate. This is not a small distinction: NAAC is the domestic accreditation regulators and public employers actually look at.
NIRF runs the other way. Amity carries an NIRF placing; Sikkim Manipal's record shows it as not ranked. Where an HR team screens on visible national rankings, that is a real gap. Internationally, Amity's record names quality assurance bodies in the United States and the United Kingdom, a global accountancy body and QS. Sikkim Manipal's international entry is narrower but not absent: WES recognition and a QS-ranked parent university, the combination that matters if a foreign employer or admissions office asks for your credential to be evaluated.
Amity prices its MBA in a band rather than at one figure, and the specialisations at the top of that band carry another institution's name: construction project management with a chartered surveying body, international finance with a global accountancy body, and hospital and healthcare management with a medical education provider, including an assured observership at a large hospital group. You are paying for a second credential alongside the university's own, plus an AI-driven learning platform, international faculty drawn from the United States, the United Kingdom and Singapore, and a campus-connect component.
Sikkim Manipal is a flat, single-fee programme at the bottom of our catalogue's price range, and it does not pretend to be anything else. Its faculty entry describes doctorate holders with IIT and IIM backgrounds and long teaching experience, and its delivery is live plus recorded sessions. What it does not carry is any partnered or badged specialisation. The honest test is whether Amity's partner names map to the work you actually want; if they do not, the premium buys optionality you will never exercise.
Amity's list is deliberately unconventional: a dual-specialisation option, general management, data science, business analytics, digital marketing management, and the partnered tracks described above. Several of those exist nowhere else in our catalogue. What Amity's list does not obviously contain is a plain human resource management track, which is worth checking directly if HR is the function you want printed on the degree.
Sikkim Manipal runs a compact set of core functional specialisations — marketing, finance, human resource management, operations and supply chain, systems, and healthcare. That is the standard management spine plus a healthcare track. If your target specialisation is on it, breadth stops being an argument for paying more elsewhere; if you want an analytics or a domain-badged MBA, only one of these is in that business.
Amity records the widest scholarship menu of any university in our catalogue: merit, defence personnel, Divyaang applicants, a sports category, an alumni category, a scholarship entrance test, and separate discounts for paying the full fee or the annual fee upfront. It also records no-cost EMI. The consequence is that Amity's sticker price and its effective price can differ substantially for the same applicant, so ask for the post-scholarship number in writing before you compare anything.
Sikkim Manipal records EMI availability and scholarship categories covering merit, defence personnel, government employees, differently-abled applicants, sports and alumni. Its longer scholarship description is one of the fields damaged in our source workbook, so we cannot tell you how those categories are quantified — get the written policy from the university rather than a counsellor's verbal figure. Even after scholarships on both sides, Sikkim Manipal remains the lower outlay; the question is whether the discounted Amity number is close enough to change your mind.
Amity's record describes a hiring-partner network, placement assistance, profile development and mentoring, and rates its alumni feedback, after-sales support and private-sector recognition at the top band, with career progression rated good. Sikkim Manipal's record carries no career-services entry at all. That is a hole in our data, not evidence that the university offers nothing, and it is the first thing to ask them directly. What its record does carry is a set of ratings — alumni feedback, employer recognition, after-sales support, career progression — that all sit at average, and reported placement bands that are the lower of the two, shown in the table above rather than repeated here.
Read every placement claim here with scepticism, Amity's included. Salary bands published by Indian universities are self-reported and describe fresh graduates, not a professional adding an MBA to an existing job. Treat them as a signal of employer reach, not a forecast of your next appraisal.
Amity admits on merit with no entrance exam, on January and July intakes. Sikkim Manipal's intake months are not recorded in our data, and its entrance-exam field is one of the damaged cells, so we cannot tell you whether a test is required. Both need confirming with the university before you plan a start date around them.
On workload, both records place the programme in the same middle band of difficulty, so neither is the soft option. Both deliver live plus recorded sessions, which is what actually matters when you are watching lectures after a full working day. Amity additionally records a campus-connect component; Sikkim Manipal's record shows none, so if getting into a room with your cohort matters, that is a real difference.
Both universities are UGC-DEB entitled and AICTE approved, which is the recognition that makes an online degree equivalent to the on-campus version for recruitment and higher study.
